3D Photography

Now for the secrets of low-tech photography Ana 3D flying machine, are you ready? Consistency … always take the main picture with the exact same way.

First let us talk about cameras. Any digital camera will do because this technique is not iron-based goods. For example I use a Canon SD4000 digital camera. While the camera is a little concern there ar two items on the list of “must-have” for this technique. You have software like Adobe Photo Shop mustiness, Photo shop Elements, or equivalent program capable of separating the image into color channels. Next you need to have a set of 3D glasses with red and blue lenses each OR Red (R2) and Blue (80A) filter lens.

Position the subject of which five and eight yards in front of the camera. Ideally a background of other subjects must be (a) eight to ten feet behind the focus point. If the background is too far behind the subject there will be a little 3D effect, if the background is too close it will be described as a confusing mess of red and blue. Use your legs and move the camera closer or farther than using a zoom lens.

Real magic trick is how double images captured. Stand with your feet shoulder width apart just below. Putting all your weight into your left leg, write and shoot pictures. Then move all your weight to right leg and write and shoot the second image. With the composition of the goal is to keep the subject centered in the viewfinder. Tip: If your subject is a person’s focal point is the eye and not the nose!

This shifts the camera from left to right near the position and the distance between the two eyes. The difference between left and right camera position should be about four to six inches. The greater the distance between the position is less likely that the foreground object will be given right at the end of the complex picture. It will take experimentation and practice to become proficient at this technique.

Next mustiness manipulated images on the computer into a composite glyph Ana. For this example I will discuss the steps that are used to store the product photos to create the final composite.

Open the image pair Left / Right in Photo shop. This is where consistency pays off, if you capture the first image and then left to right every time there’s ne’er each guess for the image file. Lower-numbered file is always left eye.

Next create a new blank image the same size and shape of such images. Alternately add a layer of solid white color for the image right and make the background layer. Using the Move tool click and drag the picture to the left and right while holding down the Shift key. At this point you will have a single image file with three layers: a white background, pictures and images Right Left.

Click on the top layer (left image) to make it active and then use the controls to change the Opacity of this layer to abut 50% opaque. This allows you to see the picture right through the picture Left. Use the Move tool to position the top left of the image around and align the subject in both images. (Hint: if the people here is where we try to align the eye).

After the main subject of parallel back the top layer to 100% Opacity. Since the edges of the two images do not exist ar yearner tune each image space without overlapping images would only reduce the 3D effect. We need to plant an additional image information from the final composite. Click on the icon of the eye to the center (right) layer, make sure that the layer (left) above is active and use the Crop tool to remove all the non-layers of composite.

While the top layer still active open a tool level (Ctr l + L). At the top center of the Layer dialog box is a pull down menu, use it to select the Green channel. Now, at the foot of the graph space of two boxes, the right of the box has a zero and to the left of the box has the number 255. Changing 255 to zero. Then use the drop down box and select the Blue channel and again set up to zero value. You will now have a bright red image. Click the OK button on the tool level

Click the icon for the layer of the eye (Left) and click on the icon of the ball to the layer (right) center. Once again open the Levels tool (Ctr l + L) but for this layer we just need to select the Red channel and set up to zero value. After the adjustment layer has been completed click the OK button.

There is only one step left. Ensure that the eyeball icon is turned on for all three layers and then click on the layer (Left) on to make it active. In the Layers box above other astatine (a) the drop down menu. Use it to find and choose the option screen and we’re done! The images on the screen looks like a complex slightly out of register with the elements of the Red and Blue / Green. Put on your 3D glasses (or use a filter in front of the camera’s left eye red and blue filters in front of your right eye) and enjoy your first 3D images.

Save the image as a JPG or TIF, with ink jet printing or sending it to the lab to have printed the original photo was made. If your HDTV supports plug the SD memory card to save a copy of the image to the SD card and see the creation of 3D on the big screen!
