Adobe Photoshop is much more than a powerful software program for editing image files. It is a virtual digital darkroom, offers more creative flexibility than a conventional darkroom. Photoshop allows you to work as a positive image, allowing you to see the effect when you create it. Photoshop is also very open-ended – there are many different ways to do the same. As a result, certain techniques talked about can be achieved by a number of different means.
Photoshop‘s flexibility also makes it open to a wide range of unique techniques. When you sit down with six photographers and ask them how they like a common correction as a selective diffusion, you could get six different answers. Many practitioners pick up a technique in a book, then another during a workshop and they have quickly followed the technique has become a hybrid, with a slightly different method and results.
